A meditation on self-perception and the identities we construct. The central figure confronts his own persona, observing, questioning and critiquing the version of himself he presents to the world. The second face becomes both reflection and mask, familiar, yet separate from the person examining it. Around them, architecture, vessels, nature and celestial symbols represent the structures through which identity is built, memory, belief, experience, ambition and time. The work asks where the authentic self ends and the persona begins, and whether we can ever observe ourselves without becoming both the subject and the judge.
